Watercolour Classes

WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

Length: 8 weeks Cost: $235

This course will teach the time-honoured techniques associated with the exquisite transparency of watercolour. This is an exciting opportunity to learn the correct techniques when using this medium. Learning to see intricate forms and colours of the simplest things will enhance your ability to paint everything. Focusing on still life arrangements you will learn a variety of paint and colour techniques. Working on paper you will explore numerous techniques including, the mixing of colour, composition, flat and graduating washes, glazing, blending, and lifting. Transparency and fluidity, light and dark transition will be explained. Demonstrations will be an important component of this course. The class will progress at the pace of the students and individual instruction will be given.

WATERCOLOUR PAINTING- CAPTURING THE LANDSCAPE PAINTING FROM PHOTOS

Length: 8 weeks Cost: $235

The essence of watercolour is the landscape. You will learn how to plan and create finished compositions based on the observation of the landscape working in the studio from photos. Composition, creating the allusion of distance, colour mixing, and tonal value will be discussed. The class will accommodate all levels of students, we will give daily demonstrations covering subjects such as painting skies, water, boats, buildings, vegetation, shadows, capturing a sense of distance and foreground, and any other subject will be dealt with. Each day will present new scenes and new challenges in painting watercolour and you will learn how to capture the moment in watercolours and produce a finished artwork in one sitting.

EMOTIVE, EXPRESSIVE WATERCOLOURS

Length: 8 weeks Cost: $235

This course seeks to address the technical, spiritual and at times poetic nature of watercolour painting. You will learn how to compose your painting through a philosophical and Zen series of skill orientated exercises, followed by more imaginative abstract works.

Ian will teach you a way of seeing and how to express yours artistic vision in watercolours through colour, rhythm and form to create captivating artworks that are linear, bold and vibrant. You will be assisted in your mastery of techniques and innovative approaches to composition.

Using a limited palette, you will be provided with an opportunity to explore concepts and styles through a simple yet dynamic approach to watercolour. You will move you from the basics to a form of individual experimentation and expression.
