This sculpture course is an in depth study of the life model, developing the pose, exploring the rhythm and expression of the human form. Working from a model, we will concentrate on the fundamentals: proportion, the features, simple construction, and expressive composition of sculpture.
This course is aimed at a contemporary approach to the human figure. You will develop a variety of processes and a freer, less traditional approach to the human figure. Whether you have never touched clay or have advanced sculpting skills, this course offers a clear method to master the fundamentals of three-dimensional rendering, as well as develop skills that improve your ability to see and understand the figure. This class will teach figurative modeling, using basic armature and will take the students though the steps of building the figure in clay, looking at the fundamentals of proportion, scale and basic modeling techniques. Anatomy, proportion, design, and personal growth will be emphasized, and both representational and abstract approaches to the figure will be addressed. This class is designed to be a no stress experience, so come prepared to learn new things and enjoy yourself!
