Drawing Classes

DRAWING (USING A VARIETY OF MATERIALS & TECHNIQUES)

Length
: 8 weeks Cost: $235

Drawing is one of the core disciplines upon which a classical art education rests, it serves as a foundation for the training of artists. Fortunately, drawing is teachable like learning to play music. This course introduces the basic language of drawing and how it is used to communicate what and how we observe. While many first-time students have doubts about their ability to draw, we know you will discover not only that you can draw, but the essential element of drawing, which is how to observe.

This course introduces the fundamentals of drawing from how to measure proportions, design, perspective, composition, and quality of line. This course is for the complete beginner, as well as anyone who wants to review the principles and current practices of drawing. By teaching the techniques and methods of drawing, this course develops skills that are critical in all aspects of the production of art. You will develop skills through the study of a range of subjects such as still life, architecture, plant, natural forms, and manufactured objects. Line, space, texture, form, colour, and measurement will be employed to produce drawings using various media and techniques.
